Sound of Silver Invitational Philosophy
Bigger is not always better. It is the philosophy of the Sound of Silver Invitational to demonstrate that small and medium size bands can present interesting and entertaining halftime shows in a festival/competition environment. Bands will be judged on how well they perform... not the number of players.
With that said, larger bands will be available to this perform this year for Festival... but not Competition. It is the goal of the Sound of Silver Invitational to allow small to medium size bands to compete for awards without being discriminated because of their size and this is achieved by limiting the band size for Competition to 99 winds and percussion (on field). Once again, there will not be a size limit for Festival bands and Festival bands are generally scheduled by size...the smaller bands go first and the larger bands last. Festival bands are NOT competing against each other, but for ratings of Good, Excellent, Superior, etc. There are several large bands out there that are interested in Festival performance only.....please contact them and let them know this is an event for them.
